What's New

  • You can get the details on how to pay the referees at games by viewing this memo.
  • The final Fall 2008 practice field schedule can be downloaded here.
Effective immediately, PASO is no longer using the Main St fields for practice.  Instead, Folsom Field in La Cima is now open for practices.  See the latest schedule here. All unscheduled time slots are available for use by coaches on a first come first served basis. Unscheduled time slots will not be coordinated by PASO, so please remember to use sportsman like conduct when working with other teams.

Thank You

Your players thank you for enabling them to play soccer. PASO understands that some coach volunteers have never played soccer while others have played soccer their entire life. We have opportunities within our organization to assist both types of individuals with the challenging task of coaching. We consider you to be amazing for volunteering to coach our players due to the amount of time and effort that is required as a coach. While the responsibility of guiding our players is substantial we feel that you will find it immensely rewarding! We would like to recognize you by saying “You are a great person for volunteering to coach!” Please read the Official US Youth Soccer Coaching Manual.

What Great Soccer Coaches Need to Do

Here's a list of things that all coaches should do at the beginning of the season:

  1. Check the date and time for the coaches meeting.  You will receive your team roster at this meeting. You can optionally attend the Frisco coaches meeting.  The date and time will be listed at the Frisco Soccer Home page.

  2. All Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers are required to complete an online Background Check form prior to the beginning of each Fall season. The background check is valid for one full year. Therefore it will also be good for the following Spring season. If you do not serve as team staff in the Fall and have interest of serving in the Spring, you must submit your information prior to start of Spring season. If a form is not submitted, PASO has the responsibility of asking you to forfeit your position.

  3. If you haven't gotten your coaches license yet, sign up for a clinic at the Frisco Coaches Clinic page.

  4. If your team doesn't have a name yet, come up with one.  It's fun to let the kids come up with it.  The team name must be unique within the league.

  5. If your team doesn't have uniforms yet, choose the design and color and order them.  Please note that you should also obtain vests that contrast your uniform color in the event that you play a team with the same uniform color.  The home team must wear the vests.  We can't specify places where you must order uniforms.  However, we can provide a list of companies that you can choose from.  Please click on the Uniform link in the green bar above for ideas.

  6. Set the times and place for practice.  Contact John Oestmann for field reservations.

  7. Get soccer equipment for practices. Ideally, you should have 3 or 4 extra soccer balls, enough vests for half your players and cones or flags to mark off a field and goals.

  8. Contact the parents of your players.  It's a good idea to call all the parents first and then follow up with an email.  This call is a good opportunity for you to give the parents important information about the upcoming season and to give them the chance to ask you questions.

  9. View the game rules by division document to understand specifics that apply to your division.

  10. Throughout the season, Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Managers can access team information by clicking on the Coaches Admin link above in the green bar.  You must have a valid username and password to log in to the administration site.  There are two ways to get a valid username and password: 1) If you want to use the same username and password that you used to register your child, log-in to the Player Administration site and add yourself as a volunteer (Head Coach, Assistant Coach or Manager) or 2) create a new username and password on the Adult Volunteer site.  After either option, send the Registrar an email  so he/she can assign you to your team in the system. Once logged in as a Coach (or Manager), information available for printing/viewing includes player/parent contact information, team rosters and print only access for team game reports.  Please note that team game reports are required to be printed and provided to the referee before each game.  Please contact the PASO Registrar if you have any questions.

What Great Soccer Coaches Need to Know

We understand the joy that is experienced by seeing your children participate in soccer. The great thing about the PASO soccer program is that it is a player developmental program. No score is kept for children U9 and under, and scores for U10 and over are for placement purposes only. By agreeing to be a coach in the PASO league you agree to the following key points of our program:

  • I will allow our players, referees and parents to make mistakes without yelling or criticizing them

  • I will rotate our players across field positions at least through U9

  • I will ask our player’s parents for help in managing the team

  • I will focus on player development and never discuss the score with our players

  • When I disagree with a referee we will remain calm and deal with it after the game in a professional manner

  • I will perform my duties to encourage children to return to the sport of soccer

  • I will focus on the seven ideals of our league and not on winning and losing the game

  • I will comply with all NTSSA , PASO and FSA rules and regulations

"Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for
the interests of others."  Philippians 2:4
