Referee compensation procedure

PASO employs a "Pay at the Field" policy in order to ensure that referees are paid in a timely manner. This is a standard process used by many associations. Each team's Coach (or team representative) will receive ONE check totaling the amount they will be responsible for paying referees during the season. The following describes the process to be followed:

• Each coach will be asked to sign a receipt for the amount received when the check is picked up. 
• Coaches should cash-out or deposit the check.
• Prior to the game, each coach is to present his/her respective payment to the referee along with the corresponding game day team roster. Referees will not make change. 
• Both coaches are responsible for paying HALF of the Referee fee IN CASH at every game.
• No referee should receive more than their respective pay per game.
• If for any reason the coach does not issue a payment to a referee during the season and ends the seasons with unused referee compensation monies, the coach is to return the money to PASO as soon as the season is over. 

Exception: Referees will be notified about make-up games that have been previously paid (Games ended prematurely due to lightning, etc...) and will be paid directly by PASO. This does not mean that coaches are being given the option to refrain from paying the referees. 

 

Game Day Responsibilities

Wear your coaches badge! Only individuals wearing oficial NTSA issued badges are permitted in the coaches box. Badges must be worn and visible at all times during games. 

Respect the referee(s) at all times. They have a difficult job to do and are in the authority on the field, regardless of their age. Any issues a coach has with a referee regarding their in-game performance should be addressed to the PASO League Chairperson of Referees (contact info on the Board of Directors page), not directly with the referee.
